Cayado en Olivenza, desde cuándo? Uno de los objetivos de esta web, además de servir de punto de encuentro, es conocer el origen o procedencia del apellido Cayado; muy poco común en España. Parecía probable que al indagar sobre los Cayado de Olivenza, apareciera algún vínculo de los asturianos con estos y de estos con Portugal. Recientemente, he tenido la oportunidad de acceder a los registros de bautismo del pueblo de Olivenza de los siglos XVI, XVII y XVIII y por fin puedo decir que……..el misterio continua; por el momento, no hay constancia de Cayado en Olivenza en ese periodo. Su procedencia podría aclararse accediendo a los libros de bautizados o registros de nacimientos de los siglos XIX y XX (Archivo Histórico Diocesano de Badajoz, Registro Civil de Olivenza o Parroquia de Olivenza).

One of the goals of this website, as well as serving as a meeting point, is to know the source or origin of the lastname Cayado; very rare in Spain. It’s likely that, researching about the Cayado of Olivenza, it would appear a link between the Cayado from Asturias and these and between these and the Cayado from Portugal. Recently, I had the opportunity to access the baptism records of the town of Olivenza of the centuries 16th, 17th and 18th and finally I can say that……….the mystery continues; from what I’ve seen so far, there were not Cayado in Olivenza in that period. I guess their origin will be easy to find out by accessing the books of baptism or the books of births of the 19th and 20th centuries (Diocesan Historical Archive of Badajoz, Olivenza’s Parish or Olivenza’s Civil Registry).
