Después de lo susodicho el dicho días mes y año de arriba el dicho Don Po de Valdés Juez Ordinario de esta Villa estando asistiendo a tomar las dichas listas y dicho día de arriba pareció ante Su Md. y ante mí el dicho Rº Gza. del Busto escríbano de número por ausencia de Grabiel de de Balbín escríbano de ayuntamiento en las dichas casas de ayuntamiento Pedro del Canto el viejo y Domingo de los Toyos ambos y dos del estado de los hijosdalgo por no haber hombre pechero en su feligresía, personas nombradas para dar la lista de la feligresía de San Martín y de Vallés y sietes de los cuales el dicho Juez tomó y recibió juramento en forma debida de derecho debajo del cual les manda den la dicha lista bien y fielmente poniendo a cada uno en su grado que es los cuales lo ficieron y la comenzaron a dar en la manera siguiente:

La cual dicha lista la dieron en la forma que a tal queda dicha y declarada el dicho Pº del Canto y Dº de los Toyos en presencia de dicho D. Pº de Valdés y no lo firmaron por no saber firmolo el dicho Juez.

NOTAS (1)HijoDalgo o Hidalgo o ydalgo de sangre es, según la Real Academia Española, una persona que por su sangre es de una clase noble y distinguida.”Hijosdalgo” es decir “Hijos de algo”, esto es, que sus ascendientes se hubieran distinguido por sus hechos o por su posición; los hidalgos eran conocidos por diversas clases, siendo los más importantes aquellos de “solar reconocido”, o “de casa solariega” que pregonaba la nobleza e importancia de sus ascendientes.
En muchos pueblos existieron hidalgos que eran labradores, zapateros, comerciantes y hasta “pobres de solemnidad”. Y junto a ellos convivían otras personas que eran ricas, que poseían bienes y que, sin embargo, eran “pecheros” tenían que pagar los tributos “y todas sus haciendas no les bastaban para alcanzar la hidalguía”. Which the aforementioned list was given in in the form that it´s said and it´s declared by the said Pº del Canto and Dº de los Toyos in the presence of the said D. Pº de Valdés and they didn´t sign for not knowing it was signed by the said judge.

(1) HijoDalgo, HijoDealgo or Hidalgo in Spain literally means «Son of Something» and denotes Noble by Blood. As society evolved from feudalism the eldest son typically inherited «Titled Nobility»; all other sons (and daughters) were still considered to be of noble blood and had certain legal entitlements such as exemption from taxes, right of petition to the monarch, marriage, etc.
In many villages there were gentlemen farmers, cobblers, traders and even «extremely poor people» who were «Hijosdalgo». And they lived next to others who were wealthy and who own properties but, however, they were not «Hijosdalgo» and had to pay taxes «and all its finances are not sufficient to achieve the nobility».
