Pablo Cayado Llosa vuelve a ser protagonista en Villaviciosa, cinco años después de poner en marcha, junto a otros jóvenes investigadores, Villaviciosa ConCiencia, una iniciativa destinada a acercar la ciencia a la sociedad y poner en valor el talento científico vinculado al municipio.

Pablo Cayado Llosa is once again in the spotlight in Villaviciosa, five years after launching, together with other young researchers, Villaviciosa ConCiencia, an initiative aimed at bringing science closer to society and highlighting the scientific talent connected to the area.
Hace cinco años, el investigador maliayés Pablo Cayado Llosa y otros jóvenes investigadores vinculados a Villaviciosa pusieron en marcha Villaviciosa ConCiencia, una iniciativa nacida con el objetivo de acercar la ciencia a la sociedad y poner en valor el talento científico vinculado al municipio.
El talento que vuelve a casa
Desde su creación, Villaviciosa ConCiencia se ha consolidado como una propuesta de divulgación científica que permite acercar a Villaviciosa a investigadores y profesionales de diferentes ámbitos. El proyecto establece también un vínculo entre quienes desarrollan su trayectoria profesional fuera de Asturias y su tierra de origen.
La iniciativa cumple ahora cinco años y lo celebra con una nueva edición de Verano ConCiencia, que tendrá lugar en el Teatro Riera. El programa incluye dos conferencias: Alba Morán Álvarez, responsable de comunicación de la Red Europea de Agencias de Medicamentos, hablará sobre la divulgación científica en las redes sociales con la charla «Ciencia viral: comunicar con rigor en redes sociales».
A continuación, Teresa Valdés-Solís Iglesias, vicedirectora del Instituto de Ciencia y Tecnología del Carbono (INCAR-CSIC), abordará la transformación energética de Asturias en «Asturias: del carbón a la descarbonización».
El alcalde de Villaviciosa, Alejandro Vega, ha destacado el balance positivo de estos cinco años y el compromiso de los promotores de la iniciativa. Entre ellos, ha puesto en valor el trabajo de Pablo Cayado y el hecho de que profesionales vinculados a Villaviciosa compartan con su comunidad los conocimientos y experiencias adquiridos durante su trayectoria.
Ese vínculo con el municipio constituye uno de los valores de Villaviciosa ConCiencia. Pablo Cayado representa una forma especialmente interesante de entender el talento local: salir para formarse y desarrollar una carrera profesional, pero mantener la conexión con el lugar de origen y poner parte de ese conocimiento al servicio de su comunidad.
Cinco años después de su creación, Villaviciosa ConCiencia continúa demostrando que la ciencia también puede formar parte de la vida cultural de un municipio y que el talento que nace en Villaviciosa puede contribuir a transformarla desde fuera, pero también desde casa.
La celebración finalizará con un brindis y un aperitivo para todas las personas que han colaborado y apoyado el proyecto durante estos cinco años.

Five years ago, researcher from Villaviciosa Pablo Cayado Llosa and other young researchers with links to the area launched Villaviciosa ConCiencia, an initiative aimed at bringing science closer to society and highlighting the scientific talent connected to Villaviciosa.
Bringing talent back home
Since its creation, Villaviciosa ConCiencia has become a science outreach initiative that brings researchers and professionals from different fields to Villaviciosa. The project also creates a link between those who pursue their professional careers outside Asturias and their home region.
The initiative is now celebrating its fifth anniversary with a new edition of Verano ConCiencia, to be held at the Teatro Riera. The programme includes two talks. Alba Morán Álvarez, Head of Communication at the European Network of Medicines Agencies, will discuss science communication on social media in her talk “Viral Science: Communicating with Rigor on Social Media”.
She will be followed by Teresa Valdés-Solís Iglesias, Deputy Director of the Institute of Carbon Science and Technology (INCAR-CSIC), who will address Asturias’ energy transition in “Asturias: From Coal to Decarbonisation”.
The Mayor of Villaviciosa, Alejandro Vega, has highlighted the positive balance of these first five years and the commitment of the people behind the initiative. He particularly valued the work of Pablo Cayado and the fact that professionals connected to Villaviciosa share with their community the knowledge and experience they have gained throughout their careers.
This connection with the area is one of the project’s greatest strengths. Pablo Cayado represents a particularly interesting way of understanding local talent: leaving home to study and build a professional career, while maintaining a connection with one’s roots and using part of that knowledge to benefit the local community.
Five years after its creation, Villaviciosa ConCiencia continues to show that science can also play a role in a municipality’s cultural life, and that talent born in Villaviciosa can help transform the area both from outside and from within.
The anniversary celebration will conclude with a toast and refreshments for everyone who has collaborated with or supported the project over the past five years.
